So a little over a month ago I was that mom with the ugly cry. That mom who was wondering will her kids make it back home safe and sound. That mom who wanted to email their kid’s teacher every hour. That mom who is waiting out by the window looking out for her kids to arrive back from school. You know that stalker mom who can’t keep her face from the front view of her window.
I say this because the first week of school was hard on me. I am not going to deny that. But fast forward to now and I am just desperately wanting a bit more time to relax at home before the kids get back. I think I have a lot going on with with Luke already. Add another 2 and it’s complete chaos around here every single afternoon. We get to the end of the day and I am just plain tired but they are not. Their energy has no limit and by then I am just counting down the hour for bed time.
Sometimes I feel we can do more after school and I get this constant guilt we shouldn’t just stay at home. Depending on the day we will plan a night out to eat out as family and let them do outside activities to wear them out. Other times like this week I just make the most at home. I plan a movie hour with a few snacks. I make them their favorite homemade nachos and let them have all the sweets they want for desert (certain occasions of course or as a reward) along with their cup of juice.
And if it wasn’t perfect timing we recently received this box from Welch’s 100% Juice with Coconut Water with their two new drinks and flavors. It is a much healthier option since it contains 100% juice with 30% less sugar. It comes in two delicious refreshing flavors- White Grape Mango and Tropical Berry Grape. It has a great taste I enjoy! I am obviously a coconut lover so this was the best idea they could create all together. It also feels good to not feel guilty for giving my kids too much juice sometimes. As a bonus I found out they loved it too!
I realize that even if the witching hour- as they like to call it is tough on us moms we can always figure out a way to get pass it and create some fun around us. As a family my kids and I enjoy some movie time, bring in the snacks and juice and are good to go!
So Cheers to surviving those long afternoons or the witching hour as some of you like to call it.
