Visiting Tapatio Springs Resort
A few months ago for our anniversary we got to visit Tapatio Springs, a Hill Country Resort and Spa. We had this weekend getaway planned since the summer and it was so exciting to finally get to experience it. It is less than four hours from Houston. Located just outside of Boerne, Texas and co owned by the country singer and legend George Strait. The newly renovated and rebuilt resort, set on 220 acres of rolling green hills and sparkling blue ponds in the heart of Texas welcomes locals and travelers and makes the perfect family getaway. I think it soon became one of our favorite Texas Hill Country escapes and you are about to find out why.
The New Clubhouse
A little behind the scenes story of the new clubhouse. After a fire destroyed their previous clubhouse in 2017 it was closed until they rebuild a new one. The resort says the clubhouse modern design is “reflective of the resort’s Hill Country roots”. Everything you see as you walk in is completely new with a few touches of the old one for you to live through. The new clubhouse at Tapatio Springs opened this past Fall in October. The new clubhouse adds about 4,000 square feet of event space. In addition, the clubhouse includes a 1,100 square foot for members only fitness center.
Influenced by Boerne’s fresh Country atmosphere and historic heritage. The newly renovated clubhouse is indeed the heart of this resort. Along with La Cascada Table and Bar, it has been named one of the Top 10 Diner’s Choice Awards winners for Best Outdoor Dining Destinations around San Antonio. It features Texas Hill Country Dining along with a beautiful breathtaking view. This is the place to visit on your next vacation.
Clubhouse Features:
- La Cascade Table & Bar (twice as large with indoor and outdoor dining and beautiful views)
- Main Lobby (huge lobby that overlooks the golf course with open space and windows)
- Golf Pro Shop (latest trends in apparel and equipment)
- Fitness Center (not only do they provide the gym equipment but a stunning view of the Hill Country)
- The Studio (it is intimate and comfortable, a great family spot that we enjoyed after dinner)
- Troubadour (named after George Strait’s Grammy nominated song, a spacious meeting venue)
- Ace in the Hole Boardroom ( a place that is smaller for executive meetings)
We loved entering the Clubhouse. The entire staff was so attentive and so friendly. We looked forward to going to the clubhouse everyday and see the staff. They soon recognized the kids and made conversations with all of them. You could definitely tell they loved working there.
Property Amenities:
- free parking
- pool
- high speed internet
- bar/lounge
- golf course
- fitness center
- kid/family activities
- pets allowed
The resort is overall very nice with a laid back feel with all your needs close by. They have a fitness center with easy access to you. Although I did not visit the Spa it looked so nice in the photos the resort had. It has European inspired treatments at their on site spa, the perfect way to pamper yourself. There are two pools right by each other with a bar and patio lounge area. Our favorite part were all the fire pits around the resort. My kids enjoyed that and all the s’mores they got to enjoy.
Hill Country Lodging
One thing we were instantly impressed by were the variety of guest rooms and suites. There are private balconies and patios, views of the Texas Hill Country landscape, and beautiful detailed decor all over. You will see modern designs yet rustic chic touches everywhere. Options are:
- Double Queen Guest Rooms
- King Guest Rooms
- King Suites
We got to stay at the George Strait Suite and it was incredibly huge. The suite definitely delivers an authentic Hill Country escape from the city and everyone else. It is an upscale luxury experience to say the least. There is a couple’s king bedroom with fireplace and living room space along with your own bathroom/shower, a separate room on the opposite for the kids with their own bathroom as well, a spacious living room, a dining room, a kitchen and bar with all amenities needed. All with a private patio/balcony for yourself.
Outdoor Activities
Golf
This is a new and renowned golf course with over two million in improvements by architect Tripp Davis. The Resort Course at Tapatio Springs is among the best in the state. Surrounded by beautiful views and oak trees all around with a unique design. My husband and I took two golf carts and explored the course with all three kids after dinner for a few hours and enjoyed it so much. The kids got to run around, take pictures, watch the sun go down, and look at the ducks around the ponds.
Trail Rides
I really believe this was the highlight of the entire trip. Elyse and Ryan along with my husband got to do horseback riding for over an hour for the first time along the trails outside of the Tapatio Springs Resort. They all did so well and the hour went by so fast. Luke even got to take a few photos with one of the horses so he wouldn’t feel left out. You have to be six years and older to do the trail ride. So Luke and I stayed behind and enjoyed some fresh air and the nature views as we watched the horses right in front of us. It was so refreshing and we all enjoyed it so much.
S’mores by the Fireplace
Our last night we decided to go out to the movies but first had a late lunch at La Cascada and followed it by s’mores at the fireplace right by our suite. I think each of my kids had about four. Seriously the best time! It was cold outside and made for the best desert all by staying warm around the fire pit. The wether and ambiance made it all so magical.
So book now, it’s the perfect spot for you and your family this season.
Thank you Tapatio Springs Resort for inviting us and hosting my family and I for the weekend and making this trip unforgettable.
